Summer Break and Time in the Shop

Summer Break and Time in the Shop

As the school year comes to a close and summer begins, I find myself transitioning from the classroom to the woodworking shop. The end of the academic year always brings a sense of relief and renewal, providing the perfect opportunity to dive back into my passion for woodworking. This summer promises to be an exciting one as I plan to spend more time crafting new designs and creating unique items for our shop. The break from teaching allows me to focus on the meticulous details that make each piece special, and I can't wait to share these new creations with you.

Balancing time between our kids' summer camps and the workshop is always a bit of a juggling act, but it’s one I welcome with open arms. The days are often spent shuttling the kids to various activities, ensuring they have enriching and fun experiences. Once they are settled, then I am dedicated to the serenity of the woodworking shop. It’s a peaceful and productive time, where creativity flows and sawdust flies. This rhythm of activity and calm is invigorating and keeps the days fulfilling and dynamic.

Our family dog, Mabel, couldn't be happier with this summer arrangement. With everyone home more often, she is in her element, basking in the extra attention and company. Whether she’s lounging by my side in the workshop or joining us on family outings, Mabel’s joy is infectious and adds to the overall sense of contentment this season brings. As I look forward to unveiling our new woodworking designs, I am grateful for this time to focus on both family and craft, making the most of every summer day.
